Miss Tourism Uganda has today launched the 10th edition in the presence of the media and other practitioners.
The event that was held at the Uganda museum marks the beginning of this year’s Miss Tourism. Ivan Lugya, the national coordinator of Miss Tourism Uganda, this year’s theme is Rethinking Tourism and it will focus on showcasing the achievements of Miss Tourism Uganda for the last 10 years.
Lugya says that the pageant has helped other contestants to put up some initiatives for example the Rolex Festival that was an idea birthed by Enid Mirembe who was Miss Tourism Busoga, the little Miss Uganda birthed by Trisha Julian Kyomuhendo who was Miss Tourism Bunyoro.
The pageant has also grown over the years from 9 contestants to now more than 30 finalists. The search for this year’s Tourism queens is on and will be conducted in different regions and later a grand finale at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
During last year’s grand finale, Susan Kahunde from Tooro was crowned Miss Tourism Uganda and this year, she gives out her crown to the girls going to compete in this year’s pageant.
